2007 Toyota Sienna Owner Commentsproblem #16Sienna CE 3.2L
I bought the car in early November, 2016 from a dealer. One owner, Car Fax and all service records. When I slow down to take a turn, and then slightly accelerate, it takes a couple of seconds, like it is trying to catch up, then 'vroom', kind of jumps. This van had low mileage and only one owner, so I was sure it was in exceptional condition.

I bought the van as a used vehicle, within a month of driving, especially when the engine is cold and in slow speeds,
I noticed this problem, ie: engine losing power, so that the transmission has to down shift abruptly.

The car lost power when slowing down. It's got slipping gears in the lower speed. There is no help when I called Toyota customer service.

This one is so annoying I think if I put something up here about it, I'll blow up instead of going off. When this vehicle slows down with you it just freaking slow, you can get back on the speed as quick as you want. Ridiculous.

I am experiencing the same problem as most of the other explained here that loss of power when slowing, sounds like exhaust breaking. I am due to go to the dealer and I just checked in the web if anybody else is experiencing the issue.

We took the car in for the third time, but to a different dealer. We asked them to check the transmission problem, but they said on their invoice, 'Could not verify concern. Tech road tested and no problems were found at this time. Check transmission fluid-normal, found no trouble codes, road tested-could not verify concern.' We asked one more time to go on record as saying we don't agree. We're now at 45000+ miles and it still does it.

This was the second time we had taken the car back to the dealer for the transmission issue. The invoice says, 'Customer states when you go over a speed bump or a 90 degree, trans tries to down shift while reving way to high c/s. Has gotten worse since last service. Test drove and trans is normal at this time. Customer rode with Tom.' Again, they make it sound as if we agree that nothing is wrong which is not true. Again, we asked to be put on record as stating that there is something wrong with this transmission. It shouldn't be doing this. We don't care what Toyota says.

Sienna CE
We noticed that the transmission felt weird right away. Whenever we go over speed bumps or turn the corner (times when we normally slow down and then speed up), the transmission revs. It reminds me of when I was driving a standard transmission and working the clutch wrong. The dealer mechanic's invoice says, 'Customer states trans is slipping when you slow down and go over a speed bump then when you speed up trans slips. Test drove many times and also with customer and trans is shifting fine at this time.' The wording of this makes it sound as if we agreed that there was nothing wrong. Not true. We requested that we go on record that we feel there is something wrong with this transmission even though they say it's fine.

After purchasing our Toyota Mini Van we noticed a slip or delay in the tranmission right away. We took it to the Toyota dealership and were told they needed to reset the memory, and that it should fix our problem. they Explained that our Van has a memory tranmission and wouldn't slip or delay once it memorized our driving patterns. This did not in anyway fix the problem. We have taken it in several, several times and complained that we feel this is a dangerous problem.. The Transmission slips so badly that it actually has locked my seatbeat when it finally caught and accelerated. Toyota has stood by this problem explaining that the van is driving exactly the way it was designed to do. I

Minecraft Power Pointe 2007 Toyota 2
After purchasing our mini van we noticed right away that we had a problem with our transmission. Transmission does not shift gears when you slow down without stopping. We took it to toyota dealership and were told that they needed to reset the transmission and that would fix the problem. That in NO WAY fixed the problem. They told us this van has a memory transmission and would correct on its own after it learned our driving patterns. This is unreal answer. We have complained many many times, that we feel this is a dangerous flaw in the design but are continually told there is nothing wrong with the transmission, that it is operating exactly the way it was designed. The transmission has slipped so badly that It locked my seatbelt when it finally catches. When ever you slow down ( going around curve or parking lot) without coming to a complete stop you can hear the tranmission winding up and whining then it will suddenly jerk into the next gear.Because I can get NO help from Toyota on this matter I am trading this hunk of crap in and NEVER again will I ever buy a Toyota again..

problem #4
Sienna
We have been annoyed by a transmission problem which the service department at Toyota has been unable to correct. The technicians made an earnest attempt to solve the problem but have no solution to offer other than it being a design problem. The problem occurs when the vehicle decelerates from a higher gear then upon accelerating the transmission doesn't seem to find the appropriate lower gear and instead slides or slips between gears until it 'catches'. There's an uncomfortable hesitation and temporary loss of acceleration which could result in an accident.

problem #3
Sienna
The transmission slips or slides after decelerating then returning to power. It cannot seem to find the correct gear and instead suddenly catches when the engine revs high enough. A service call was made a year earlier when the first attempt to correct the slip was to reset the memory and then drive the car as we would in normal traffic. Apparently the computer would reprogram the transmission's shifting range according to our particular driving style. This sounded plausible but resulted in no change. We were told after the second service call that the problem had been corrected in newer models but could not be fixed in ours.

problem #2
Sienna
This was our third service call to report that Sienna's transmission shifts with an annoying and dangerous slip then jerk at lower speeds. The service invoice shows that the technician recorded this as a 'Bad ECU and to reprogram the ECU'. Once again, after the third attempt, there was no change in the performance of the transmission and the technician genuinely seemed to be as frustrated as we were. I'm wondering if the two vehicles reporting problems in this area are unique of if there are more. A recall is unlikely if there aren't enough owners reporting this. We've obviously reported the problem to Toyota but maybe it will help if 'AutoBeef' steps in as an independent player?

Sienna LX 3.5L V6
I purchased car for it’s reputation for being the best minivan for a family. Lately, I have taken the Sienna to the dealership three times. Problem: Reducing speed to make either a right or left turn the car just won't accelerate. You can hear the motor literally forced. I had a car recently almost smack me from behind because the car just stalls and won't run the way it's suppose to. The first visit apparently the transmission had to be checked and corrected. Second visit memory lost and had to leave it at the shop so a Toyota mechanic could come over and reboot. Third, apparently nothing seemed wrong with it placed in diagnostic machine and no problems were detected. Today thinking of calling the dealership to have it checked again. I’m just not happy with the way it’s behaving. It’s making me believe I will get into an accident because of this defect . :(
